2nd WORKSHOP ON MUCOSAL IMMUNOLOGY

July 7-8, 2016
Auditório da Reitoria
Campus UFMG

Av. Antônio Carlos, 6627 - Pampulha - Belo Horizonte, Brasil.

Mucosal surfaces are the largest area of contact of the body with the environment. In addition, they lodge the most abundant lymphoid tissue, and they are continuously challenged by natural antigens such as microbiota and nutrients. Mucosal Immunology became an area of great interest since the latest discoveries on the role of microbiota and dietary components not only on inflammatory bowel diseases but also on systemic disorders such as diabetes, allergies, chronic degenerative and autoimmune diseases. This workshop will address several of these themes and will provide a forum of discussion with known experts on various aspects of immune responses at mucosal-associated lymphoid tissues, effects of probiotics and dietary components in disease models, mucosal vaccines and mucosal infections, mucosal inflammatory diseases, immune-regulatory effects of oral tolerance and of compounds produced by gut microbiota.
